Create XFM Solid

Use the Create XFM Solid tool to create an XFM Smart Solid from 3D polygon features, which are polygon collections. These 3D polygon features are composed of a series of adjacent polygons.

Note: The polygons must enclose a complete volume. Use the Check Gaps tool to be sure that there are no gaps present in adjacent polygons or faces.

On successful completion, a message will show the number of solids created. Multiple solids can be created, provided each feature instance encloses a complete volume.

To create an XFM Solid, select and accept one polygon of a polygon collection. All adjacent polygons are stitched together to create an XFM Smart Solid. The geometry of the resulting Smart Solid can now be modified using MicroStation’s 3D modeling modification tools.

Note: When a Smart Solid is created from 3D features, the symbology takes on the color of the polygon line, not the polygon fill. Solid elements do not have a separate fill color symbology. When the solid is converted back to a 3D polygon feature, the correct fill color will be restored according to the symbology defined for the feature.
